Guatemala 2023
In 2023, a team of linemen from Oregon constructed an electricity distribution system to electrify homes and buildings in the village of Aleda Montañita de la Virgen in Guatemala. The project was funded by money raised by Oregon’s electric cooperatives and was led by Roger Meader, a retired General Manager from Coos Curry Electric Cooperative. The project team included rural electrification experts from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, and information specialists from Pioneer Utilities Resources and Golden Shovel.
